True Lies on Honest Paper
Trues Lies on Honest Paper is a paper sample set I designed for the French Paper Company’s line of Dur-o-tone Paper. The set of deliverables is meant to celebrate the 140th anniversary of French Paper, and promote and showcase this line by expressing the character and unique qualities of the paper.
“True Lies on Honest Paper” tells the story of famous American con-men and hoaxes of the 19th and early 20th century. This concept is set up by the phrase “Can you trust your paper” at the begining of the book. Then, each spread of the booklet highlights one con-man or hoax. They all include illustrations I did in a utilitarian woodcut style, and are based on advertising from the era that in some way connects conceptually to the story presented.
